I'm getting more and more disappointed in subpar donghua quality. I've been spoiled by high quality donghua like Douluo Dalu or Doupo Cangqiong. I'm tired of the turn based roleplaying action scenes and in this donghua for some reason there is pauses after voice lines. Like what? Is it really that hard to play a sound file right after the other one? Why are they staring at each other for several seconds before responding? It makes no sense how that made it past editing/revising. I guess it just comes down to funding and how much the studio cares. I can tell that the studio that produced this donghua is either underfunded, doesn't care, or both.

Yes you are right, it boils down to two factors, money and popularity, the studio animating this donghua is also responsible for Against the Sky Supreme, Peerless Martial Spirit, Kuang Shenmo Zun and quite a few others

It costs a lot of money and a lot of time just to do 3D donghuas, and not every studio is capable of rendering beautiful 3D modelling like Soul Land, Doupo Canqiong. Majority of studios will animate 3D models like this one, a few would be on the quality of Wanmei Shijie. Zi Chuan and even fewer are capable of doing donghua like Soul Land and Doupo Cangqiong, it is far easier to factory produce donghua of this quality and then hope that it will become popular enough and the publishers will increase the funding to to the studio, remember 4 years ago, the animation quality of Doupo Cangqiong was really bad, by capable I dont mean that they cant, they can but it costs a lot of money and time to do so, no studio is ever issued a blank cheque to produce animations

Also a big reason a studio will animate better 3D quality donghua depends on whether the novel they are adapted from is popular or not, Soul Land, King's Avatar, Swallowed Star, Martial Universe, Doupo Cangqiong, Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan etc are all popular novels which is why they are animated better, this one isnt as popular as the ones I mentioned I am halfway finished on this novel and I am enjoying it, it isnt the best novel, it isnt really all that fantastic but I like it, lot's of plot twists, comedic, and female main character which doesnt occur often. I watch mainly for the story, anything else is a bonus

And if you compare how many JP studios or even Western studio do 3D animation series then you can see that China is making a strive in this area. To draw a comparison, JP anime produces a lot of bad 2D animations as well as top notch ones so it isnt surprising where we will have a lot of bad 3D donghuas coming out from China

Weird. I've watched Peerless Martial Spirit, Against the Sky Supreme, and Kuang Shenmo Zun and they are much better than the one we are commenting on. I would call them above par for what I expect from 5-7 minute episode donghuas. I'd have never guessed that this subpar jarring animation was made by the same people. I guess that would tie in to what you said about popularity. I figure the other 3 donghuas are more popular/funded then?

I'm also watching this for the story. I read plenty of FL romance webcomics but I've seen very few FL cultivation webcomics and a lot of them just copy literally the exact same theme:

Badass female doctor and/or expert fighter reincarnates into either a cultivation land(not common) or (the more common) ancient china as the bullied first lady of the house and then she either saves the (cultivation)prince/king of hell or (ancient china)the unpopular prince that is a strong military man and he instantly falls in love with her and then they get revenge on the second lady/madam of the house and possible first prince ex fiance who is now with the second lady.

So when I saw this donghua pop up I got excited but was disappointed. I will swallow it and keep watching though since this fell into the uncommon cultivation theme. Although they have already ticked a few boxes with her being a badass doctor and she saved a powerful guy already who's identity albeit hasn't been introduced yet but I'm just waiting for the prince/king of hell namedrop.

And you're right. There are a lot of bad JP 2D anime. It makes a lot more sense to me now that a lot of donghuas are also bad. Generally if a donghua has 20min episodes it's going to be a good one. Obviously there are still outliers though like Wu Shen Zhu Zai which does banger 7min episodes. Although I'm still annoyed that the intro is a whole ass 2mins of the 7min episode. I've never understood why they make the intro almost a third of the whole episode because more often than not there's also a 1min outro of ads. The silver lining is that it comes out multiple times per week though.

(Note: I use webcomics as a blanket term for manga/manhua/manhwa and the stories I read fall into all 3 or none of them like TBATE being a western product.)

Lol you are fine. but remember, same studio doesnt mean the same team doing it, they might have a mixed team, for example if you compare IG Production's Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex with say Noblesse Oblige, the quality isnt the same

I am not sure if you read the novel, I am reading it in Chinese though, but the story is pretty good compared with some other novels I have read. a lot and I mean a lot of plot twists

She is in another world, not ancient China, super alchemist, god like levelling

Handsome guy is actually a dragon, son of two Gods, OP like crazy
The cat is actually one of the mythical spirit beasts (Phoenix, White tiger, the turtle and dragon) she is the white tiger, her history is very sad but things looks up for her, she is also the comedy relief

She begins in the Jun family she slowly begins to tackle all her enemies, and destroys the whole Jun family, and sets off to upper realms, eventually finding her biological father and mother, but not spiritual parents since she took over the original Jun Jiu's body, she confesses to her "parents", although angry and upset, they accept her since it was THEIR fault that put their daughter in the worse possible situation and had an indirect hand in causing her death

The annoying part of the story is that she feels that certain enemies are not worthy of her attention and not worth lifting her fingers to kill and lets them go, only to find out that OH MY GOD that person causes greater harm to her and her friends, this gets repetitive through out the story (much like a certain bad 3d donghua MC that loses his wives, yes WIVES not wife, multiple times that I had to drop that stupid donghua, yes Wu Sheng talking about you!!)

And another small but annoying thing, women enemies lives longer than men, with men, Shoosh!! dead, women, they live to fight another day, talk about the author being sexist there.......... smh

But the story does get better :)

The terminology of webcomics is fine, I use donghua when referring to Chinese animation, cause I dont want to get into a debate with the anime/cartoon/animation purists lol

Okie enough of my ranting :)

I'm not reading the novel. Currently the only novel I'm reading is Super Gene and it's on the backburner until the last couple hundred chapters are translated. Once I discovered the sites with webcomics I couldn't go back to novels except Super Gene because I was already 2k chapters in lol.

Thanks for the spoilers and I'm glad she breaks the meta and tells them her origin. I always like the cut the bullshit straight to the point scenes. Off topic but a common trope that I hate in romance media is using misunderstandings to delay their union or create drama. I swear in 99% of romcoms if they just communicated like normal humans the movie would be over in 15mins. That's why I try and stay away from webcomics that have a comedy tag along with romance.

Oh man, I hate mercy like that as well. If there is one thing that I've learned from all these cultivation stories is that you remove your enemies "root and stem" therefore eliminating any chance at revenge.

Interesting analysis of sexism. Although if it's just that much then I won't have a problem with it. It'd only be a problem if they randomly started going off about things like down with the patriarchy and forced BS *cough* Supergirl *cough*

:)

No misunderstandings to break them apart or delay their feelings for each other, not even jealousy it actually is between the cat and the male character fighting for the girl's affection and attention, but nothing that even dents the pair's love for each other, it serves more of a comedic effect, the only thing about the jealousy part is, the girl actually attracts a lot of guys AND girls, which the male becomes very jealous of but again lasts for a few secs and does no real harm to their relationship, it does get tedious though the way that guys and girls (not all) are attracted to her and him as well, since he is supposed to even more super hot and attractive than her
Yeah I hate those as well, which is why I like Against the Sky Supreme, he doesnt often let anyone go, ends them and problem solved, although that one.....sigh I wont rant since I like it
